Karakia

Posted in Life on Jul 9, 2013 by Anthracite

A high voice of conviction could be heard behind the view
for all to hear and heed, to have heart of good will and hope
wondering all the time if tradition is meaningful

offence is not a path to righteousness
tradition is not a law of the young
but truth of the heart is

sing with me the truth of what is right
forget what you have been trained to think
and learn what it is you assuredly feel

to look at me and self-flagellate
does not release you from responsibility
ownership of happiness belongs to no one but you

and thus the ability to inform and provide
the just environment that is the right of all
to evoke collaborative ataraxia

take the Karakia as a graceful push – the fuse
the seed to cultivate something more than subsistence
promote the ease of strength by candid admission

ignore malodorous action and instruction of malice
take the hand of truthful like mindedness and realise
to be the strongest depends on awareness

of what is available to you and others
banish timorous, unfounded thoughts
own the rights of the heart and believe

happiness is yours to take once you understand
the ease of what and where it comes from
and the biggest, unquestionable responsibility

Just because it’s far away doesn’t make it right
It can’t be forgotten just because its out of sight
Men died to provide and feed his kin
It could be stopped so who owns this sin?
So has complacency thrived where empathy grew?
To what purpose, the death of 52.

RIP the 52 African miners
