Imitation

Posted in Thankful observations on Feb 23, 2014 by Anthracite

You are no different from the queen and her ant
revel in your stupidness for there is comfort there
and know that the imitation of life you now have
is graciously given to you at the whim of others

Strength

You know you are not one of them
one of the beautiful people

You know but you swallow the moment
one of the ugly people

Clothes don’t fit and you’re so old fashioned
one of the poor people

Knowing this and not caring makes you
one of the strong people

I wore a suit to Mt Coo-tha

Posted in Life on Feb 23, 2014 by Anthracite

Bright flashes leapt as dark clouds bounced around the hills
like mischievous school boys playing with fireworks
just out of reach but close enough to flick the odd taunt

the city had been unkind today and I found myself surprised
a bit stupid at the thought it would be any different
but that’s only because I selfishly didn’t get my own way

whatever the fractious retort may have been
the plaque of some creature clung to exposed skin
requiring immediate attention and scraping

so in the dark of night as other ants scurry for cover
the journey started home with a detour to a dark high place
to feel the rain and touch an angry sky while wearing a suit

Whose tears

Posted in Questions on Feb 23, 2014 by Anthracite

These words are not written with tears from an Angel
maybe they are from a man
but does it make a difference?
the more they engulf your soft feelings
better the chance of getting my way
and in the end you must agree
that is precisely
the point.

My boy

The fat fish Athol splashes around a bit
that and the fridge are the only noises
there are clothes on the floor and the house is a mess
but I’ll leave it like that for a while
because it reminds me who left it there.
