A lovely journey
Good bye said the mountain sadly
Excited to be away from the cold
The boulder ready to go gladly
And away down the mountain he rolled
Hello said the stream rather shocked
It seems parts of you have crumbled
The boulder proud he had become a rock
And like a child with a bag of sweets, off he tumbled
Rumbling loudly with a welcoming tone
A soup of leaves and creatures in the river
The rock laughed to for he had become a stone
And he bounced away with a chuckle and a quiver
Into the delta like a jesters bauble
Arriving gently, unlike a sprinters bolt
He smiled knowing he was a pebble
He’d heard the stories now he tasted salt
The noise was incredible, alive with chatter
Applause just for him, a star in a band
Finally with all his brothers, the things that matter
Dancing in the foam he was finally sand
Loving where he had been
The things he had seen
Birthed by a mountain
Welcomed by the sea.
